ReikiReiki (ray-key) is an ancient Japanese folk art that uses universal life force energy to heal. The recipient remains fully clothed during the treatment. The practitioner's hands are placed gently on or above the recipient's body in a prescribed pattern. Reiki works on the physical, energetic, and spiritual levels. After sessions clients report feelings of deep relaxation, calm, and an internal peace.
Reiki is one approach among many types of energy work. Your time to receive is an invitation to open and allow the flow of your essential self, which is capable of repairing and moving towards balance. When we make time away from thoughts, in a safe space, our nervous system shifts into a healing state, realigning with our personal energetic intelligence. The result can be a release of physical restriction, a moment of insight, or the lifting of emotional attachments. |
Many syles of energy work will reference a template for Chakras, or concentrations of chi (source energy) within the body. These correspond with concentrations of nerves (solar plexus), organs (pineal gland, heart), or anatomical features (diaphragm). The traditional associations with the Chakras can provide a helpful lens, through which we might reference our human experiences. However, Reiki healing asks us to step away from all that is the mind, and into a place of pure allowing.
After receiving a Reiki session is a wonderful time to connect with nature in some way, even if you are simply sitting by a window where you can see the sky. Give yourself another moment to bring quiet to your thoughts, and listen for any glimmers of wisdom or ah-hah moments to come forward. This is a perfect time to journal, remembering to remain in a state of non-attachment to stories and outcomes. Bless yourself by shining a sentiment of gratitude towards yourself or something in your life.
